Oddsmakers see stoppage before 10th

MANILA, Philippines ? Oddsmakers are convinced that the Nov. 12 world welterweight war between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez will not go beyond 10 rounds.

After listing Pacquiao as the overwhelming 8-1 favorite against Marquez in their catchweight bout of 145 lbs at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, sportsbook said there is just a small possibility that the fi ght will go beyond 10 and a half rounds.

Sportsbook lists +105 if the fi ght goes over 10.5 rounds (USD100 wins USD105), while it is -145 in the event it ends 10.5 rounds and less (USD145 wins USD100).

Since infl icting a heavily-favored Oscar De La Hoya a stoppage loss in 2008 that resulted in his retirement, Pacquiao has never been installed as the underdog even against more established bigger men like Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.

Pacquiao and Marquez have fought twice in 2004 and 2008 with the fi rst ending on a controversial draw and the rematch going Pacquiao?s way via an equally-disputable split decision. (Nick Giongco)
