Amidst recent talk from Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer regarding plans for his next several opponents, WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan has continued to progress well in training for his upcoming bout with IBF light welterweight champion Zab Judah, who he fights in a unification bout on July 23rd.
Schaefer, speaking to the British press earlier this week, hinted at a schedule that could include the likes of Erik Morales and Floyd Mayweather in the near future for Khan, as well as more appearances in the U.K against local opponents such as Kell Brook at welterweight.

Being overlooked by Golden Boy if not Khan himself obviously doesn’t sit well with Judah, who knows that at 33 years of age the bout could be a must win for him to continue to be regarded as a world class fighter.
While Khan’s eventual target is Floyd Mayweather however, Judah, who fought Mayweather back in 2006, will be looking for a fight with Khan’s Wild Card teammate Manny Pacquiao should he win later this month.
Of course, for the time being neither should get too ahead of themselves. Khan’s plans prior to fighting Mayweather include unifying all four major belts at light welterweight and then successfully moving up to welterweight. A minimum of two fights which at Khan’s current pace will take around a year.
Judah similarly will likely have to wait for Pacquiao even if he is victorious against Khan. Pacquiao has a bout in November against Juan Manuel Marquez to contend with first, and according to statements from Floyd Mayweather will likely then attempt negotiations with ‘Money’ for a third time, which as the first two attempts can attest to, could take a while.
