The Digital Fight Journal – From simply walking into the arena anyone could tell that this event was much more organized than most Boxing events previous to this. The ambiance in the room was already charged and the fans came in dozens. A packed house of new and old fans of the gentleman?s sport prepared for a great night of Boxing. The Digital Fight Journal set up quickly and reported the following fights:
Heavyweight division Sergio Romano (0-1) from Italy fights Canadian Dillon Carman in his pro debut.
Round 1- Carman set pace implements body shots early and hitting the forward walking Romano. The Italian lacks head movement and eats many punches. His punches are short against the taller Canadian. Round 1 goes to Romano for aggressiveness, quality of landing punches and ring generalship Round 2-Caraman hurts Romano early with a looping right hook. Romano keeps walking back with no evidence of a game plan. Carman?s left hook momentarily stuns the taller opponent, but Carman keeps Romano at bay. Round 2 to Carman. Round 3 ? Carman?s long punches doing damage. Romano fighting with a sense of desperation. Romano pressing fight and landing more proficiently. Carman showing signs of fatigue and defense more open. Romano goes in aggressively and landing with more succession. Carman looking tired. Romano almost steals round, but round goes to Carman. Round 4- Carman comes out strong. Body shots come in with ease and lands a devastating right uppercut through the guard. Carman looks alive again. Romano is constantly charging forward with no success. Camran lands two right crosses clean and Romano has no answer. Romano wins 4th. Both fighters go out in a flurry. There was entertainment until the final moments of the round. Carman makes his pro debut undefeated.
Lightweight division matches two undefeated fighter- Ibrahim Kamal (2-0, 2 KO) fighting
Hungarian Istvan Kiss (4-0, 2 KO).
Round 1 ? This faced pace fight starts from the opening seconds with both fighters running into each other and throwing furiously. Both fighters land left hooks simultaneously and separate. Kamal leads the board with two crisp right hooks. Kiss lands a clean left hook at the end of a flurry, but does no real damage. Kamal lands a strong jab and continues to win the back and forth war that both fighters are entangled in. Kamal starts with a right uppercut, left jab and follows with right hook stopping Kiss instantly. Kiss crashes to the ground into a heap and smothers his face into his gloves kneeling. Kamal stops the fight 1 minute and 45 seconds in the first round. Kiss did not make count at all and is escorted to his corner still hurt. Kamal maintains perfect record of 3 wins and 3 knockouts.

Middleweight Division sets Canadian Brandon ?Bad Boy? Cook (1-0) fighting Laszlo Haaz (4-4) of Hungary. Round 1 ? Cook working the outside, but controlling the fight and landing good right crosses. Haaz throws Cook into the corner and before he can start a rally, Cook reverses and works Haaz into the corner. Haaz works out and in an attempt to move to the center of the ring Cook stops Haaz with a strong right uppercut and narrowly misses with the follow up left hook. Haaz melts to the ground and rises to the count. Referee Mark Simmons observes fighter and stops the fight giving Cook the fight in 44 seconds of the first round. Cook remains undefeated improving to 2 ? 0 while Haaz descends to 4 wins and 5 losses.
Super Middleweight division has two local talents Horace Hunter (1-3) versus Phil Rose (2-1, 2 KO)
Round 1- Hunter comes out of corner strong. Both fighters throw, but no impact made. Hunter scores with a jab. Rose looking powerful, but cannot land clean on the moving Hunter. Hunter lands a counter jab. An uneventful round, however Hunter set the pace, pushed back Rose and commands the ring over Rose. Hunter wins first round. Round 2- Rose comes out strong, but Hunter lands several jabs and a cross. Rose attempts uppercuts and hooks from his right hand, but cannot break Hunter?s defense. Hunter lands good left hook from a southpaw stance. Left straight catches Rose f lush on the cheek. Hunter lands left uppercut on Rose?s charge inside Hunter?s reach. Rose lands cross, backing off Hunter. Rose starts rally of hard right hooks and right uppercuts. Hunter making good use of angles and keeping Rose in between his and neutral corner as well. Hunter using good footwork to move around Rose. Rose lands good right hook. Hunter wins round 2. Round 3- Hunter now uses left jab and left hook to keep Rose out. Rose lands hard right hook. Hunter does not back off. Rose lands powerful right hook and stuns Hunter for a second, but Hunter collects. Momentum is starting to shift, but Hunter not letting go of the round. Hunter whips in a couple of strong straight left crosses. Rose misses with looping right hooks that look promising if they land. Hunter moves back into the driving seat and backs Rose off. At the bell Hunter lands good left cross. Round goes to Hunter. Round 4-Hunter lands overhand left on Rose. The slugfest begins and the crowd roars in approval. Both fighters are not letting up. Rose looks the more sloppy and tired. Hunter is looking the hungrier of the two fighters. Hunter?s jabs remain consistent in attempt and landing. Rose lands left hook and begins starts strong rally. Hunter answers back with good boxing skill. Fight very tight with back and forth action. Both fighters implemented excellent game plans. Rose gets better of next rally. Rose wins round. Both fighters looked great and strong enough to fight another round. The judges have it as a majority draw. Hunter (1-3-1) and Rose (2-1-1, 2 KO). Much to the disappointment of the crowd, Hunter looked the more polished.
The Welterweight division has two Canadian fighters with the same record.
Jeremy ?Showtime? Abbot (2-1, 1 KO) and Ryan Wagner (2-1, 1 KO).
Round 1 ? Abbot attempts first. Wagner shows his right uppercut early, but fails to land. Abbot lands cross to Wagner?s head. Between the two fighters Wagner looks very strong and patient while Abbot looks absolutely hungry. Wagner?s power punches landing on Abbot?s defense. The fight thus far is a test of pugilism. No brawling, just classic boxing and skill countering skill. Abbot lands clean jab. Abbot?s guard takes on a lot of Wagner?s power punching. Round ends in flurry with Abbot taking hits and delivering to Wagner as well. Round goes to Abbot Round 2 ? Wagner looing the bigger of the two. Wagner is more successful in the rally, but Abbot not backing off. Abbot answers back clan with Wagner?s powerful combinations. The makings of a knockout are present, but it could go in either direction. Wagner lands final rally of second round with success with the right cross and hook. Round goes to Wagner Round 3 ? Wagner lands good left hook. Abbot lands good cross. Wagner now controls the fight in his own corner with his trainers yelling council. Abbot is taking on too much damage. The crowd roars and so far, this presents itself to be the best fight. Wagner?s rally of punches prove too strong and too much for the hungry pugilist. Referee Marc Simmons stops fight with Abbot clearly disappointed and never taking a knee, but taking on too much from the more Wagner wins via Technical Knockout (TKO), referee stoppage, in the third round and improves to (3-1, 1 KO) and Abbot moves down to (2-2, 1 KO).
Co-main event of the night features Super Featherweights Tyler Asselstine (5-0, 4 KO) fighting Leonus Marie- Fran?oise (8-4, 2 KO).
Round 1 ? Asselstine attempts to make his presence known by starting the action but knocked down only 10 seconds into the fight. The French fighter is pushing a hard fight and making the Canadian pay for every mistake. The young Canadian seems to have composed himself since the flash knock down and now is fighting back. In frustration Asselstine throws Marie-Fran?oise to the ground. The French fighter employs a series of slips and weaves and catches the Canadian with a hook. Round goes to Marie- Fran?oise. Round 2 ? The fight seems to be more even now with both fighters throwing good combinations. Marie-Fran?oise is now controlling the pace with hooks and uppercuts. He is bullying his opponent back. Asselstine is starting to use rangy punches to keep the shorter fighter out. Both are landing remarkably hard blows. A mouse is developing under the right eye of Marie-Francoise. Round goes to Asselstine Round 3 ? The clinches are now become a tangled mess with Marie-Francoise going to the ground for the second time. Asselstine pushes on with hard punches and is bringing Marie- Fran?oise to the brink of a knock down. Asselstine has the momentum of the fight, but Marie- Fran?oise continues to land good punches. The clinching is beginning to look like a wrestling match. The smaller fighter falls to the ground for the fourth time in the third round. Round goes to Asselstine Round 4 ? Asselstine is now using his range with viscous measure. The French born fighter has not made it inside the Canadian?s pocket this round yet. Blood is now dripping from both fighters mouths, but Asselstine has not loss control. Round to Asselstine Round 5 ? Asselstine starts the round by landing a left uppercut. He presents good speed and power behind the missed shots. The pace has slowed, but both fighters are still connecting and Asselstine the more accurate of the two. Marie- Fran?oise lands a hard straight cross. Asselstine drops his guard to bait his opponent to hit and as he does he catches Marie-Francoise with left hook. Round goes to Asselstine Round 6 ? Canadian Asselstine comes out and controls the fight with a lead jab and uppercut to follow. He creates a systematic pattern of a double jab or a jab and right uppercut. The fighters are mixing it up and exchange punches in combinations. The fight on the inside is looking dirty with Asselstine clinching and using short jumps so his shoulder can hit his opponents chin. Final round is a slow paced rally in Asselstine?s favour. Round goes to Asselstine. The fight goes to Asselstine with the unanimous score of 58-55.
The Main Event brings together Lightweights Logan Cotton McGuiness (14-0-1) taking on Daniel ?Canerito? Ruiz (22-3-1, 16 KO). This fight is for the NABA Lightweight title that McGuiness maintains.
Round 1 ? Ruiz is throwing wide left hooks, but all are missing the Champion. Both fighters are still feeling each other out as they softly approach with light technique. The action changes quickly though. Both fighters are looking relaxed and skilfully sound. The fight is on the inside where both fighters are finding success. McGuiness is taking center of the ring and pushes Ruiz onto the ropes. McGuiness is working the body with a series of short hooks and uppercuts. The first round goes to McGuiness. Round 2 ? McGuiness is feverishly working the body. Ruiz responds with wide left hooks and right hooks as well. Ruiz lands a solid left hook, but doesn?t seem to affect the hometown favourite. Ruiz is fighting with good control by hitting the body and then the head. Ruiz is countering McGuiness? forward movement. McGuiness is the more accurate and busier fighter. Round 2 is for McGuiness. Round 3 ? McGuiness is now landing with very powerful jabs and snaps the head back of the Mexican born fighter. McGuiness starts throwing hard crosses and lands while sweat whisks off the head of Ruiz. McGuiness is landing consistently with right cross. Ruiz answers with a good left uppercut right hook to the head. McGuiness is pushing the fight and although he gets caught with overhand rights and left hooks, he is landing more accurately and pushing back Ruiz onto the ropes. Round 3 to McGuiness Round 4 ? McGuiness is still working body, when Ruiz lands a hard left hook to the head of the Champion. Ruiz throws strong power punches trying to overturn the intentions of the Canadian. McGuiness lands with a double jab and cross clean to the head of Ruiz. An exciting rally in the corner with the back and forth action, but has McGuiness the winner of the rally. The fight goes into the corner again. Ruiz lands a short left uppercut to the chin. Both fighters lash at each other with hooks and crosses. McGuiness has Ruiz on the ropes again. He keeps pressuring the Mexican fighter back. Ruiz lands good strong punches, but none seem to affect the relentless Canadian. Round 6 goes to McGuiness. Round 7 ? Early in the round McGuiness uses his combo to push Ruiz onto the ropes. Ruiz responds well by leaning on the ropes and using hooks to counter back. The fight is very articulate with each technique perfect in its intention. Ruiz seems to be gaining points now by landing more accurately. Ruiz turns McGuiness around on the ropes and attempts to control the fight, but McGuiness has too much command. He is too accurate and headstrong. Round goes to McGuiness. Round 8 ? Ruiz is fighting hard. Left hooks landing to body and head. Ruiz is looking great. McGuiness is sticking with body uppercuts and crosses. Ruiz hurts McGuiness with powerful hook the Canadian fighter hangs on. He is almost out on his feet. Ruiz is punching with no stopping in sight. McGuiness hangs on and gains stability. Ruiz has him almost out on his feet with great accuracy. McGuiness? trainer Chris Johnson steps full body with the exception of his right leg into ring and jumps out before the referee could question if his corner is quitting. McGuiness answers back but is very hurt. Round goes to Ruiz and journalist scores it a 10 -8 round in favour of Ruiz Round 9 ? McGuiness is back to form and fighting. Blow for blow these guys are fighting their hearts out. McGuiness is using jabs, while Ruiz is relying on a counter left hook. Ruiz seems very relaxed but not pushing the fight. McGuiness is now the pushing harder. Round goes to McGuiness. Round 10 ? McGuiness is looking powerful and in command. Ruiz is slow to respond. Ruiz catches McGuiness with left hook and wobbles the champion. In an instant the fight is changed. All the momentum now is with Ruiz as he engages punch after punch attempting to stop the Titleholder. McGuiness fights back and beats his chest in refusal to lose. The tough Canadian will not go down and the Mexican fighter is doing everything in his power to stop him. Round goes to Ruiz and journalist scores it a 10 -8 round. McGuiness wins fight by majority decision. The crowd boo?s in disagreement. By the journalist?s score it was 94-93 in favour for McGuiness.
