Last week, I had the pleasure of joining David Berry and Armando Alvarez on their webisode, “Boxing During Dinner”. In many ways the show is one of the sports best kept secrets, equipped with everything from the hottest topics in the sport to a dose of humor over dinner with a few fight fan hotties tossed in for good measure.
During the episode I was featured in, David also took the time to sit down with boxing legend and all-time great heavyweight champion, “Smokin” Joe Frazier, who shared his opinion on the current status of the heavyweight division. Here were a few of his thoughts:
“I really ain’t seen much of the heavyweight division. I don’t really know what’s going to happen with it, you know,” Frazier told Berry, sharing his opinion to the Boxing During Dinner crew that the heavyweight division is sorely lacking the spark that it had during his reign as heavyweight champion. “Nothing’s going to be easy. We gotta go back to the old school and get the job done the right way and I think it’ll go back to being things that people want to see,” he added. “If you don’t go run 3, 4, 5 miles in the morning with boots ? combat boots ? cold, sunshine, whatever ? you have to do what it takes to get the job done.”
