Violett Films did everything to make the pre-miere night of its latest offering titled Lisensyadong Kamao a big event. The movie stars boxing champion Manny Pacquiao in the title role.
Violet Sevilla, producer of the movie who goes by the moniker Madam Violett, also wanted the Manila premiere of Lisensiyadong Kamao to coincide with the movie’s premiere showing in San Francisco and Los Angeles, California, USA.
The lady producer had simultaneous premieres in two venues—at the Gateway Cinema at the Araneta Center in Cubao and at SM City North Edsa. Lisensiyadong Kamao was screened in Los Angeles and San Francisco last Sept. 3 at 7 p.m., Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. here in Manila. Madame Violett also held a teleconference with Manny Pacquia in the US and his co-stars here in Manila after the premiere.
Madame Violett is happy that the manager of Manny Pacquiao allowed the boxer to attend the premiere. Manny’s manager is known to be strict and since the boxer is due to fight on Sept. 10, his manager doesn’t want anything to distract Manny’s preparation for his big fight. The lady producer was glad the manager bended the rule a little bit so Manny could attend the premiere of his movie even for a just a brief moment. But the manager insisted Manny should be in bed by 7 p.m.
Lisensiyadong Kamao opened yesterday with Manny’s co-stars Eddie Garcia, Aubrey Miles, and Juliana Palermo doing the rounds of the theaters in Metro Manila.
Having a baby
Gladys Reyes attended the first anniversary presscon of the sitcom Bahay Mo Ba ’To? in a maternity dress. The actress is five months pregnant and she excitedly told the writers that she’s giving birth to a baby boy. Her husband Christopher Roxas accompanied Gladys when she had her check-up at the Asian Hospital in Alabang last Monday. Christopher was likewise excited to find out the gender of their baby.
“Naiyak si Christopher when he learned lalake ang magiging anak namin. Tuwang-tuwa siya. Kahit na medyo natagalan ang ultrasound ko, ayaw niya kaming umalis hanggang di ito tapos. Talagang excited siyang malaman kung ano ang magiging baby namin (Christopher was teary eyed when he learned that we will have a baby boy. He was overjoyed by what he saw. The ultrasound was taking so long, yet he chose to stay to find out the gender of our baby),” related Gladys who said she cried along with her husband.
A lot of people told Gladys she’s probably giving birth to a girl since she still looks beautiful and flawless even at the fifth month of her pregnancy. “I am not expecting it to be a boy because everyone seems positive it’s going to be a girl,” said Gladys. The actress is also very happy that her regular show, Bahay Mo Ba ‘To has lasted for a year and is consistently a top-rater.
“Maganda kasi ang chemistry namin sa cast kaya nag-click ito sa viewers,” said Gladys. “Masaya ang trabaho kasi para lang kaming naglalaro sa set. Ang gaan-gaan ng trabaho. (The chemistry of the cast is very good, and this is what the audience likes, and we’re having fun because we feel like we’re playing a game.”)
Special guests
For his concert last Friday night at the Araneta Coliseum titled “Symphony of the Heart,” Gary Valenciano had for special guests his two sons Paolo and Gabriel. Paolo did a song number while Gabriel did a dance routine with his dad.
We had an interview with Gabriel at the Manila Genesis office the other day so we asked him if he ever gets nervous dancing with his dad?
“Yes, for a few minutes before I go onstage. I’d really get the jitters especially because Araneta Coliseum is such a big venue. But once I’m onstage, I could go on and on. I really love performing. Plus, I am dancing with my dad. We already know what we are going to do when we’re onstage. He gives me the signals on what we are going to do next kaya I don’t feel so nervous na,” said the 17-year-old teenager who’s very much like his dad in many ways.
Gabriel is very vocal in saying he wants to follow in his dad’s footsteps. He joined the new dance show Club TV on ABC- 5 where he gets to strut his stuff as a dancer and gets a chance to host as well.
“I want to perform. I want to make people happy. I want to do it not just for the money or the fame or the spotlight. I just want to be like him.”
