We all pretty much know who Canelo is, he is the strong 20 year old Mexican kid, Canelo is the one that many Mexican fight fans are looking at as being the next ?one?. The next great Mexican fighter to come out of the fighting country of Mexico. So does this 20 year old, red headed, freckled faced fighter have what it takes to be what many fans are hoping he is?
Well so far in 37 bouts, Canelo has come through with a win each and every single time. The young man is undefeated, the young man has shown that he can fight through adversity, the young man thus far is as good as advertised. So does 34 year old Ryan Rhodes even have a chance against this young man? I say absolutely without a doubt, Yes. Rhodes along with his switch hitting style will give Canelo the kind of look that the young phenom has yet to see inside the boxing ring.
Rhodes has a very tricky style to him that makes him hard to read at times. Most of the time, Rhodes leads with the right but then soon after you will then see the switch hitter come at you with the left hand leading the way. Canelo must get tricky in there to force Rhodes to come through the door un-armed.
If I?m Canelo, I would step on Rhodes? lead foot and launch a straight right to put Rhodes in his place early. I would also bang on Rhodes? body and tie him up so I can rest on him placing my entire body weight on him to wear him out. Thing is, I?m not sure if the 20 year old Canelo knows of these tricks just yet.
This Saturday night on HBO, Ryan Rhodes will get the chance to try and derail Canelo in front of at least 15,000-20,000 Mexican boxing fans in Mexico. I?m picking Canelo to land just enough clean shots to get the nod in a very close affair.
