When Bob Arum goes on the record and tells the world that Floyd Mayweather Jr turned down 65 million dollars to fight Manny Pacquiao, people react. I am not exempt from knee jerk reactions either, so with that said, let’s take a closer look at this.
If Bob Arum tells the world that Mayweather turned down 65 million dollars, does that mean that it’s necessarily true? There are always two sides to a story, no? 65 million dollars is a lot of money, in fact it is a ridiculous amount of money. Someone would have to seriously consider having their head examined if they truly turned down that big of a sum.
It would be nice if Floyd Mayweather Jr would go on the record somewhere and tell the world that he in fact did not turn down that offer. Perhaps the offer never happened. If so, why hasn’t Floyd challenged the Arum interview as of yet? That’s a fair question, no?

I’m not completely sold that this offer was ever made. I find it extremely difficult to fathom that someone would say ?no? to that kind of an offer, no matter what the circumstances are. I mean seriously folks, if someone told me that they would give me 65 million dollars, I would personally inject steroids into Wladimir Klitschko and fight him with both of my hands tied behind my back. 65 million dollars should remove the fear out of any man no matter who he is fighting. So why hasn’t Bob Arum specifically told the world who these mystery people are that offered all of this money to Floyd? I find that equally as interesting. Why not just say who these people are? Instead of saying, ?A legitimate group of people from Singapore.?
This entire ordeal with Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao has become very tiring. Mississippians that I have spoken with recently on this subject spoke loudly. I spoke with Melvin Spears of Jackson, MS. Melvin is a Floyd Mayweather fan and spoke frankly on the matter, ?65 million dollars from who? The aliens from planet steroidoma? Get out of my face Arum, nobody offered Floyd no 65 million. If they did, who was it??
I also spoke with Bill Boyer from Canton, MS who is a Manny Pacquiao fan. Bill said that he isn’t surprised by this at all, ?Floyd has clearly demonstrated his unwillingness to fight Manny Pacquiao. This doesn’t surprise me either.?
Fans on both sides weighed in, but the truth of the matter is that unless Arum can produce the names of these mystery purse holders, Mayweather deserves some benefit of the doubt on this one.
