HOT POTATO in Casual Talk via HOLLYWOOD, California – Let me tell you Team Pacquiao may just run out of technically sound sparring partners for Manny Pacquiao, that would surely help him potentially for a fight with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. These sparring partners, namely, Fernando Betran, Jr., David Rodela, Rashad Holloway, Shawn Porter, Amir Kahn, and other less known prospects, may be of less help. Yes, they all can test Pacquiao’s power shots, agility but not his effectiveness in neutralizing effective flush-counters and “ring fluidity”, so to speak, that Mayweather, Jr. can deliver in a grandmaster-like fashion. Pacquiao may just have big trouble ahead of him even with the prompting combined brains of Freddie Roach and Alex Ariza.
But, Team Pacquiao should humbly enlist Nonito Donaire, Jr to be among the top sparring partners of Pacquiao even just for a three-rounder session bi-weekly. Of course, this can raise Donaire, Jr.’s ears flaming in some as he would have tremendous need to pack up more muscles and get used to handling heavier fighters, much more of himself.
Donaire, Jr. has the best well-timed ” Omega counter-killers” in today’s boxing market. Not bad for Pacquiao as well as he would also help Donaire, Jr. in paving for a better path. Reciprocity is key. If Kahn has indeed helped Pacquiao and vice versa, then why can’t a “kabayan” do the same in both ends.
Pacquiao-Donaire, Jr.’s synergy would just be insurmountable.
