After a brief rest at a Makati City hotel, Filipino boxing champ Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao went to Quiapo Church in Manila for his customary thanksgiving Mass.
Security was tight at the church as Pacquiao and his party arrived from the New World Hotel in Makati City, where he rested shortly after arriving home from Los Angeles.
Many Filipino fans showed up at the church to shake Pacquiao’s hands and ask for an autograph, radio dzBB reported.
Police tasked to secure the church kept their distance but remained alert for any untoward incident.
Pacquiao arrived in Manila shortly after 6:30 a.m., a week after besting Sugar Shane Mosley to keep his welterweight title.
He wore yellow gloves during the bout with Mosley to dramatize his call for unity among Filipinos. ? LBG, GMA News
