Saul “Carnelo-Cinnamon” Alvarez Vs Manny “Pac Man” Pacquiao, a Great Pay-per-View Attraction – Arum

LOS ANGELES, California – Forget about the veracity of those offers which prematurely captivated the minds of the boxing aficionados. All are simply flirtitious attempts to make the fight between Saul “Canelo-Cinnamon” Alvarez and Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao a real war, potentially forestalling Mayweather-Pacquiao fight into a gridlock. But, Top Rank Godfather Bob Arum, at his behest, who promotes both Alvarez and Pacquiao, does not hesitate to vouch for their increasing Pay-per-View attractions. This would potentiate red-hot rivalry between Mexico and Philippines far greater than the purported fight on trilogy between Pacquiao and Marquez in the fall.

“Carnelo Alvarez seems to be a nice guy and a great fighter,” says Arum during the post-fight press conference of Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. versus Sebastian Zbik last Saturday, June 4, at the Staples Center. “I am sure he’ll do well for a Pay-per-View fight with Pacquiao next year, that if nothing happens with Floyd Mayweather, Jr.”

“If both parties want to do it in Mexico, then we’ll go to Mexico, or whereever we can make the fight to happen,” Arum says.

Alvarez, 20, has been rumored to have good backing from Carlos Slim Helu, world’s richest person on earth, who finds interest in forging Alvarez-Pacquiao to happen in 2012.

Meanwhile, Alvarez is scheduled to face off Ryan Rhodes of United Kingdom on June 18, 2011 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. It’s going to be the first tilte defense for his World Boxing Council (WBC) light middleweight belt which he won over Matthew Hatton after the same sanctioning authority declared it vacant for a match early this year. And Pacquiao, 32, is scheduled to fight Juan Manuel Marquez, 38, the third time. Pacquiao will defend his World Boxing Organization Welterweight title at the MGM Grand Arena on November 12 this year.
