When I spoke to the legendary Freddie Roach yesterday I had to ask him about the whole Floyd Mayweather Jr saga. Roach laughed and said, “Floyd who?” of course Freddie knew who I was talking about, but the joke was pretty funny.
During my conversation with Roach, he shared his thoughts with me on Manny Pacquiao’s performance Vs. Shane Mosley, “I though Manny did pretty good, but it’s hard to look good when you are in there against a guy that doesn’t want to fight.” Roach sounded a bit frustrated, but not with his guy.
I asked Roach about Manny’s legs. During the post fight interview Manny said that his legs had cramped up and it prevented him from moving like how he wanted to move. Roach clarified the cramp issue, “Manny’s Achilles cramped up on him during the fight. It bothered him some but Buboy was able to get the cramp out it after awhile.”
I asked Freddie about the emergence of Juan Manuel Marquez as being the front runner as Manny’s next opponent. Roach likes the Marquez matchup, ” I have been wanting that rematch for a long time. There’s been a lot of people complaining about the last two times we fought him, so let’s do it again.”
