15rounds.com just sat down with the pride of The Philippines, Manny Pacquaio and discussed his upcoming fight against Hector Velazquez ( 42-10-2) his rematch with Erik Morales, and his thoughts on his new promoter, and manager. Pacquaio also gives us his thoughts on his last performance against Morales, and what he needs to do to improve upon it next time around.
Let’s talk some boxing with Manny Pacquiao!
15R – Manny, first off thank you very much for taking a few minutes of your time to speak with us.
MP – No problem Brad, thank you for having me. 15R – Manny talk about your fight against Hector Velazquez on Sept 24th, you can’t overlook this guy he’s tough isn’t he?
MP – It’s going to be a good fight, he’s not an easy opponent. This guy has the power and I can’t overlook him, I need to be careful with him.
15R – Manny, talk about the rematch with Erik Morales, how bad do you want him?
MP – I want a rematch very much so, I am glad it is a done deal already. 15R – Let’s talk about Shelly Finkel, you settled your lawsuit with Muhammad and now you have Finkel on board, what are your thoughts on that?
MP – Yes, I am very happy with Shelly Finkel. Shelly is a very nice guy, and I am happy with both him and my new promoter Gary Shaw. I look forward to working with both.
15R – Manny, what was it about Morales that you most learned when you fought him last time?
MP – Well, first of all I needed to be 100 percent ready mentally, and 100 percent physically. I was neither last time I fought him, I had a lot of things on my mind last time. I had problems with my promoter, and I am glad that’s behind me now. 15R – Talk about Marco Antonio Barrera, is he someone you want to fight again also?
MP – Yes, anytime he wants to fight, I will fight him. 15R – Ok, and Marquez? him too (laughing)
MP (Laughing) Yes, him too I want to fight him at 130lb. 15R – How is it training with Freddie Roach, talk about Freddie a little bit Manny.
MP – Yes, I like Freddie very much he is like my father, he teaches me a lot about boxing. 15R – Your American version of dad ? (laughing)
MP – (Laughing) 15R – Does Erik Morales’s size bother you at at all?
MP – No, it doesn’t bother me he’s not like other taller fighters. Morales is a different kind of boxer than other taller guys… 15R – Manny, talk about the boxing glove size issue that went down last time you fought with Morales?
MP – It doesn’t really matter, any size glove but I would rather use the Reyes gloves. 15R – Manny, talk to all of your fans in The Philippines, and all around the world and tell them what they can expect out of you for your next fight.
MP – First of all I want to thank God for giving me the strength every day. I would also like to thank my fans all around the world especially my countrymen in the Philippines.
