MANILA, Philippines ? Fighter of the Decade Manny Pacquiao is arriving in Manila on Saturday morning, nearly a week after his successful World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title defense in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jake Joson, Pacquiao?s chief-of-staff, said the Filipino champion already left the US on Thursday (Friday Manila time).
?Pabalik na siya at ang arrival po niya ay 6 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday),? Joson said in an interview over radio dzMM.
Joson heads Pacquiao?s advance party, which is making arrangements for the boxer?s arrival.
The pound-for-pound champion defended his WBO title against Shane Mosley last Saturday (May 7) in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao is scheduled to go home to General Santos City in time for his mother?s birthday celebration.
No motorcade in Manila Joson said there might be no motorcade for the Filipino champion because he will be arriving on a Saturday.
“‘Yung motorcade po, mukhang wala kasi Sabado po,” he said.
He said Pacquiao, who also serves as congressman of Sarangani province, will head straight to New World Hotel in Makati City upon his arrival.
After a few hours of rest, the boxing champion will visit Quiapo Church to attend a thanksgiving mass.
He will also pay President Benigno ?PNoy? Aquino III a courtesy call in Malaca?ang.
?Dadaan po si Manny sa Malakanyang po para kay presidente,? said Joson.
Pacquiao is expected to fight again in November against his Mexican rival, Juan Manuel Marquez.
