Middleweight boxer Julio Cesar Chavez Junior has no familial lines to Chavez Ravine – the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Stadium – but the 25 year old is a corner stone of the Major League Baseball franchise this upcoming weekend.

With Chavez fighting on June 4 at the Staples Center Downtown, the Mexcian star is being marketed at Sunday’s game against the Florida Marlins to increase ticket sales for the boxing event.
On Sunday, Julio Cesar Chavez Junior will make an appearance noon at the Viva Los Dodgers festival in parking lot six at the stadium. At 1 P.M. Chavez Junior will throw out the first pitch.
This is not the first time Junior has thrown out the first pitch, last June he threw out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium before a game against the Cardinals.
Promotional appearances aside, Chavez Junior must make a statemebt against World Boxing Council middleweight champion Sebastian Zbik to land a potential fight with Puerto Rican icon Miguel Cotto. Advertisement
Chavez has been finishing up his training camp at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood with coach Freddie Roach.
Zbik wants to take out Chavez Junior
Though Sebastian Zbik is undefeated (30-0, 10 KOs) and a title holder, the German has been treated like a B-side to all of the attention Chavez Junior has been receiving in the build-up to the fight.
During a media day in Los Angeles, Zbik let it be known that he is coming to take out the Mexican.
“I don’t care how I win,” said Zbik. “What I want is victory.”
Zbik has a 33.3% knock-out record, and would likely have have to take a decision win from Chavez in what will surely be a pro-Mexican Los Angeles crowd.
