Teenaged phenom Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista, the WBO Asia Pacific bantam titlist, is slated to face Miami-based Colombian Felix Murillo in an 8-round scrap underneath the double-header featuring Erik Morales and Manny Pacquiao at the Staples Centern in Los Angeles on Septmber 10 .
“It is now final and confirmed…Bautista has been pitted by Top Rank against knockout artist Felix Flores Murillo,” said Cebuano sportsman Tony Aldeguer, Bautista’s manager, in a message to mediamen yesterday.
The fight takes place in the “Double Trouble” card, which pits Erik Morales against former Olympian Zahir Raheem and Manny Pacquiao versus Mexican Hector Velazquez. Morales and Pacquiao are set for a mega-rematch should they come out victorious in the card.
Another fighter of Filipino lineage, ex-Olympian Brian Viloria, also sees action when he vies for the WBC light flyweight crown against title-holder Eric Ortiz.
The 31-year-old southpaw Murillo, a native of Valledupar, Colombia, boasts of a 13-4-1 win-loss-draw slate with 11 KO’s.
The 19-year-old Bautista, a native of Candijay, Bohol now fighting out of the ALA Stable of Cebu, remains undefeated in 16 fights with 12 KO’s.
