MANILA, Philippines ? After a weekend of prayer, Manny Pacquiao was supposed to rehearse with the MP band for his post fight concert on Easter night. The Pacman will have his post-fight concert at the Mandalay Casino and then a thanksgiving concert on May 10th in southern California.
According to the band, however, Pacquiao was tired and decided to stay in on Sunday night. This is because he had been working hard throughout Holy Week.
On Good Friday, the Pacman had an intense workout in the presence of rock legend Steven Adler of Guns ‘N Roses.
“Tuloy pa rin ang training natin. At daily training, i-maintain pa rin dahil malapit na ‘yung laban. Dasal tayo lagi sa Panginoon,” the Filipino boxing superstar said.
Pacquiao also used Good Friday to reach out to fan Petie Stewart who has multiple sclerosis.
His training camp has been strict with visitors, but when the team found out about Stewart through Facebook, they invited her from Indiana to watch Pacquiao train.
“When I feel weak and in a lot of pain I think of what ‘Manny goes thru training’ and I know it’s excruciating training, very painful for him but he’s just a big inspiration…He makes me feel strong,” said Stewart.
“Masaya naman ako dahil may mga fans na galing pa sa ibang lugar na bumisita dito para makita ma-meet at mapanood yung training ko. So it’s an honor na may mga ganung tao na hindi lang Pilipino at also American people,” Pacquiao said.
With the fight only 2 weeks away, the heaviest phase of training camp will be winding down this week before the team heads to Las Vegas for fight week.
This week of training camp is expected to also be a “musical week.”
On Thursday, not only does the Pacman release his new CD, he’ll also appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” for the 4th time, where fans hope to hear another knockout singing performance.
