At the beginning of what will no doubt be a lengthy court battle with the IRS, who claim he owes $3.4 million dollars in unpaid taxes, Floyd Mayweather has produced another of his always entertaining online videos, this time detailing just where his money is going.
In the video, accompanied by Floyd’s song ‘Champ Life’, and produced with the help of his ever present sidekick 50 Cent, some of Mayweather’s recent purchases are totted up, revealing that he has spent $5.3 million on watches, $2.84 million on jewelery and $3.25 million on cars, giving a grand total of $11.3 million dollars.
As desperately as Mayweather wants to impress us all with his wealth, the fact that he has a less than storied history with running into debt and spending too much money means that he comes across as trying just a little too hard, especially since he also owes millions in unpaid taxes.

Also for most people, number one on the list of things not to do when the IRS are suing you would be to brag about how much money you have.
Also making a video identifying all the most valuable items you own and what you paid for them when potentially facing property seizures is probably pretty high on the list as well.
Then again not everyone has the same kind of financial sense or should that be lack thereof that Floyd Mayweather Jr. does.

Assuming that the video is accurate however, it appears that Mayweather’s days spent sitting in his mansion placing bets on sporting events might soon be coming to an end. Advertisement
Even with as much as he has made from his recent bouts, spending that kind of money as well as the day to day costs of running his mansion, regular trips abroad, constantly mounting legal fees and numerous other expenses, mean that he looks destined for a ring return sooner rather than later.
Good news for those who would rather see him back in the ring doing what he does best than posting pictures of his winning betting slips.
Obviously, not all of the items in the video were bought in the last year, but the fact that Mayweather would even spend that amount of money on what are essentially unnecessary luxury items that will only depreciate in value speaks for itself.

As much as he has made from the ring over the years, to spend money they way he does there is a good chance he will either still fighting well past his prime or possibly bankrupt further down the line like so many other former champions.
Which brings to mind a quote from Floyd Mayweather Sr from several years ago regarding his son’s spending habits:
“Mark my words, someday he’ll be running through the streets of Grand Rapids broke.”
At the moment, should Floyd Jr need more money, he can simply book another fight, sell a million pay per views and make $20 million dollars.
There will come a time in the not too distant future when he won’t be able to do this, and unless he gets a handle on his spending his father’s prediction might just come true.
