One more offer to Juan Manuel Marquez for Pacquiao fight

Before a bout between Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley was finalized, the Filipino’s promoter Bob Arum sent Golden Boy Promotions an offer for Mexican icon Juan Manuel Marquez to land a third fight with the Filipino icon.

It has been well documented that the financial parameters of the offer were considered too low by Golden Boy and the proud warrior Marquez moved on and Pacquiao then signed the fight with Mosley.

Now, it has been reported by Spanish language news service Univision, that Bob Arum has once again offered Juan Manuel Marquez a rematch with Pacquiao to take place this October.

According to the report, Arum has sent an offer sheet to Golden Boy Promotions, who does not officially promote Marquez any longer – though they have tried to lure the three division champion to re-sign by dangling a bout with Zab Judah and his I.B.F. junior welterweight title in front of Marquez.

Marquez has not re-signed with Golden Boy nor have the financial stipulations of Arum’s new offer for a Pacquiao fight been disclosed.

Considering that Arum and Golden Boy are locked in a “Cold War” as it relates to working together in promoting events, one must wonder why he did not directly offer Marquez the offer and by-pass his promotional rivals.

Also, it is a bit concerning that Arum is already planning Pacquiao’s next move days before the Filipino’s bout with Mosley.
