When James “Buster” Douglas lifted off of American soil in 1990 and landed in Japan, nobody on God’s earth thought that when he returned back to America he would be the world heavyweight champion.
What would the headlines say if Shane Mosley defeats Manny Pacquiao? Most folks both fans and fighters feel that Manny should win this fight. There are a few fighters that say Shane could make it interesting, but not many are saying that he will win.
Shane’s last few performances were not so good. Floyd Mayweather Jr with the exception of round two dominated him. Sergio Mora, a former Jr middleweight champion fought him to a draw. Naturally, most people are taking Shane’s last two fights and basing their opinion on how he will do Vs. Manny Pacquiao on that.
Does Shane have more in the gas tank? Did he not perform so well Vs. Mayweather and Mora due to bad style match ups? Does he match up better Vs. Pacquiao?
At this point, I don’t think anyone matches up well Vs. Manny Pacquiao. He would provide trouble for anyone in boxing. He’s too fast, and his punches have very bad intentions on them.
Mosley is a 1st ballot hall of fame fighter. His resume and his legacy are already set in stone. Mosley can fight, and he has some power so there is always a chance that he can time Manny coming in, and land something big. If that happens, he does have a remote chance at shocking the world just like Buster Douglas did against Mike Tyson 21 years ago.

Stranger things have happened in boxing.
Pacquiao has had a very strong training camp thus far. There has not been the typical distractions as in past camps. The team has had very good chemistry and all systems seems to be running smoothly.
One thing about the Mosley camp is that it’s been very quiet. There has been little information coming out of that camp. I am guessing that the focus is pretty intense, as they know how big this fight is. A victory for Shane Mosley, and…..well you get the point. It would be huge.
Mississippians who follow boxing for the most part feel as if Pacquiao wins this fight fairly easily. I talked to a few of them over the past few weeks. I spoke with Greg Collins of Biloxi, MS. Collins admires Mosley, but doesn’t give him much of a chance, “Mosley is a class act, a good guy. He’s in for a big dose of trouble against Pacquiao though. He doesn’t have the speed to keep up. He will be defeated soundly.”
This much is clear, an upset is possible. Is it probable? No. Is it possible? Yes. If it happens, the headlines across the country would be interesting.
