MANNY PACQUIAO has changed his travel plans again. Instead of flying directly to Los Angeles last night, Pacquiao made a last-minute decision to stay one more week which he will spend in Cebu where he plans to make a public spectacle of his training regimen.
It could not be determined why Pacquiao chose Cebu when he could have done the same at the Wild Card Gym in Para?aque or straight to the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
In Cebu, Pacquiao is eyeing to train either at the Antonio L. Aldeguer Gym or Wakee Salud’s sweat shop starting tomorrow as both had been spruced up for his impending arrival.
The boxer will leave on Aug. 7 for Los Angeles which is a little over a month before his scheduled 12-rounder with Hector Velazquez of Mexico.
“Mag-eensayo muna ako para pagdating doon (sa Wild Card) ready to rumble na ako,” Pacquiao said yesterday who was with wife Jinkee and two sons Emmanuel Jr. and Michael Stephen.
Joe Ramos, Pacquiao’s US-based aide-de-camp said yesterday that the fighter spoke with Roach via long distance and was granted permission to spend a few more days in the country.
Pacquiao slugs it out with Velazquez at the Staples Center in downtown LA as part of a Top Rank double-header featuring Erik Morales versus Zahir Raheem.
The Wild Card gym is one of the toughest in the US to undergo training.
To prevent a repetition of having a big crowds watching his training, which proved to be a distraction when he fought Erik Morales, the Filipino lefty’s handlers will place a security guard at the entrance to make sure only those with official business are allowed in.
Meanwhile, Salud has expressed excitement over the arrival of Pacquiao in Cebu.
“Manny’s arrival in Cebu is big news already. What more if he trains here even for a few days?”
Pacquiao is aiming for a rematch with Morales assuming they both get past their respective foes next month. They are already booked for a rematch on Dec. 10 in Las Vegas following their March 19 bout that resulted in the Mexican winning a hard-earned unanimous decision.
