I recently read an article that attacked Examiner.com writers and accused them of being pro Pacquiao. The author of the article went after Examiner.com pointing out their pay per click system, and questioned the motives of certain writers.
I will only speak for myself in this article, and truth be known, I do write a lot of pro Manny Pacquiao articles. It’s a fact that there are several Examiner.com writers that are fans of Manny Pacquiao, I happen to be one of them. Why does this writer admire Manny Pacquiao? It’s not complicated, I admire the man because of his morals, his character, his work ethic, and his strong faith in God.
Boxing is littered with thugs, crooks, snakes, haters, cheaters, and the list goes on. Pacquiao happens to be none of the above. So what’s so terrible about writing positive articles about a good man, a great champion, and a man of strong faith and character? Personally, I have written a few articles where I called out some of Team Pacquiao, even calling some of them “blowhard clowns” and “crumbsuckers” both of which earned me some death threat Emails.

Let us talk about Examiner.com. Yes, the Examiner pays it’s writers on a pay per click basis. It’s the responsibility of each Examiner writer to share his or her article with as many venues as possible. Thankfully and finally these boxing scribes are making a few bucks for their efforts. MOST boxing websites do not pay their writers. This has been the case for as long I can remember.
We at 8CountNews.com happen to pay our writers and one reason for that is because I remember how it felt back when I was writing for nothing. When I decided to create 8CountNews.com, I spoke with Co-founder and business partner Ed Anderson, and shared with him how important it was to me to be able to pay the team a little something for their efforts. This didn’t and couldn’t happen right away, but over 2 years we have built up the site as to where we are now able to share some of it’s revenue.
We can’t compete with the money that Examiner.com pays, however we do our best and that’s what counts. The Examiner.com has provided certain boxing scribes with an opportunity to finally make a few bucks for their work. Is that such a horrible thing? I mean when any of you who are reading this article go to work each day don’t you do it for money? Writing for Examiner.com is a second job for most of the writers. The writers count on that income to pay bills, and to provide for their families.
So with everything said, does Manny Pacquiao have the scribes in his pocket? I can only answer that from my perspective. Does he have me in his pocket? No he does not. If Pacquiao were to test positive for steroids, I would write an article about it and headline it. If Manny woke up one morning and decided to punch Jinky in her face, I would write about it, and headline it. If Pacquiao started beating up women, drinking, gambling, and cursing, I would write about it, and headline it. The truth of the matter is that the man doesn’t do any of that.
Pacquiao is an 8 division world champion who has worked very hard to get where he is at. This writer will continue to follow his career and I will report what I see. As of today I continue to see in Manny a good man, a hard working fighter, a man of morals and character, and a man who has a strong faith in God. This is what I see, and that is what I will write.
