Former OPBF super bantamweight champion Jimrex Jaca and ex-PABA flyweight title-holder Rolly Lunas delivered what were expected of them, bombing out their respective foes from Mindanao to the delight of Barili fight fans in the other night’s Barili town fiesta slugfest.
Jaca eased out a TKO win at 1:36 of the second round over PBF No.4 lightweight contender Renato Maghuyop of Cagayan de Oro City, while Lunas flattened PBF No.5 118-pounder Jaime Acerda of Bukidnon at 2:25 of the eighth round.
Jaca sneaked in a powerful body shot that sent Maghuyop sprawling on the canvass writhing in pain. Referee Teddy Alivio made a quick, wise decision to wave off the fight to prevent Maghuyop from further harm.
Lunas, on the other hand, heaved a sigh of relief after the third man on the ring decided to stop the bout in the eighth because his no longer showed interest in fighting by incessantly running away everytime Lunas presses the attack button.
Before the stoppage, Acerda landed telling combinations to the head and body, but couldn’t finish off his wily opponent, whose main business was to dance around at times he was trapped in the danger zone.
Jaca now improved his win-loss-draw record to 23-1-1, now packed with 10KOs, while Lunas notched his 19th victory against five losses.
In the undercards of the slambang action bankrolled by Rex “Wakee” Salud Promotions International, Wakee Salud’s Jerope Mercado triumphed over Cagayan de Oro’s Jun Mala via TKO at 2:44 of the third round, while Allan Jay Tu?acao fought to a majority draw with Jumar Labiogo in his pro debut. — EBV with a report from Philboxing.com
