?Be wary of Vasquez?

DESPITE Donnie Nietes being one of the best boxers in the country, ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer warned his ward not to underestimate Mexican Armando Vasquez in their clash this Saturday at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.

Aldeguer is worried that his plans for the 28-year-old World Boxing Organization (WBO) mini-flyweight titlist might be foiled if Vasquez beats Nietes.

?He?s a typical Mexican fighter and he knows that Nietes is going to be fighting for a world title. He has to study him in the first round. These types of fighters are dangerous. They may score an upset because they aren?t given a lot of chances like this. He has nothing to lose,? Aldeguer said in an interview with Sun.Star Cebu.

Vasquez is 18-5 with four knockouts and has lost three of his four fights last year.

If he wins against Vasquez, Nietes will be fighting for the interim WBO light flyweight crown against the winner of the bout between champion Jesus Geles and Ramon Gacia-Hirales, who will fight on April 30.

Aldeguer said there is a possibility that Nietes will be challenging for the regular title because WBO light flyweight king Giovanni Segura, who successfully defended his crown against Ivan Calderon last Sunday, has expressed his desire to move up in weight.

Meanwhile, both Jason Pagara and Braveheart Boxing Gym stalwart Lorenzo Villanueva will be defending their regional belts in the undercard.

The 18-year-old Pagara is defending his WBO Asia-Pacific Youth light welterweight crown against Tanzanian Deo Njiku, while Villanueva will put his unbeaten slate and his WBO Oriental featherweight title at stake against Indonesian James Mokoginta.
