Lanky Eriberto “Yukka” Gejon, who is ranked No. 2 by the WBA gets a title shot at minimum weight champion Yutaka Niida on September 25 in Japan according to Gejon’s manager Rex “Wakee” Salud.
Gejon who is undefeated with a record of 21-0- 1 including 13 knockouts is also ranked in the top ten by all the other world boxing organizations and is one of the brightest prospects for a world title. In his last fight on April 27 Gejon scored a second round KO win over Thailand’s Namchai Taksinisan.
Gejon who is tall for his weight at 5’6 ?” is one of the prized possessions of Salud who believes his fighter has an excellent chance of winning the world title against Niida who is coming off a lopsided win in his last title defense against Korea’s Jae Won Kim last April 16.
Niida won the minimum weight title with a unanimous decision over Chana Porpoaoin of Thailand pn August 25, 2001 before losing a split decision to Noel Arambulet on July 12, 2003. He regained the belt with a unanimous decision on July 3, 2004.
