Shane Mosley is coming off two of the worst performances of his career. When Mosley squared up against Floyd Mayweather he with the exception of one round was soundly defeated in each and every round of the fight. Mosley landed one straight right hand that rocked Mayweather in the 2nd round, but after that? It was lights out for Shane. He was totally dominated. With that said, most people get dominated by Floyd Mayweather, so should we put a lot of stock in that and say that Shane must have gotten old? Perhaps he didn’t get old, perhaps he just got defeated by a much better fighter.
Mosley had another bad outing. He fought to a draw Vs. former Jr middleweight champ Sergio Mora. Is this another indication that Mosley has been grabbed by Father Time? Or is it just a matter of fighting a tough, awkward, former world champion in Mora?
Mosley is not too far removed from back to back wins over Ricardo Mayorga and Antonio Margarito. The big question is, did Mosley get snatched up by the paws of Father Time, or did he run into a few bad style match-ups in Mayweather and Mora? If the latter is true, he may give Pacquiao a much tougher fight than what most people are thinking. On the flip, if Mosley got old, he’s in for a bad, bad, bad night.
Mosley is a very smart fighter, he doesn’t make many mistakes. He will prepare hard for this fight, and honestly? It won’t take long for the fans to see if Mosley has more in the gas tank. We will see fairly early on in this fight if Shane has more to give in the square circle. Manny Pacquiao will be all over him like flies on cow manure. Mosley will be forced to fight, he will be tested early and frequently.
Mosley will be up for this fight, at leasts mentally he will be. Time will tell if he is up for this fight on a physical level.
