My oh my have I kicked a bees nest? Yes indeed. A few days ago I wrote an article putting rap icon Fifty Cent on blast for his rather brash comments and accusation about Manny Pacquiao and steroids. Since that article was published, I have been getting several not so kind emails from Mr 50’s fans.
The problem with a lot of these emails was not so much the vulgar language. The problem was, I couldn’t really make heads or tails of the context/content as the spelling and sentence structure was a nightmare. With that said, I definitely could make out the F word, and I definitely could make out the place they all wanted me to go to.
I don’t know, I feel pretty comfortable with my stance and the fact that I am standing on the right side of the fence here. Manny Pacquiao is a winner, and a true champion. He stands up for integrity, and morals, and has an entire nation of support. Pacquiao has support in multiple nations in fact.
When I read people referring to Pacquiao as a “punk ass” and that he takes steroids, the first thing I do is look at the source. In this case, 50 Cent was the source. He’s a guy who admitted to selling crack cocaine, and he has been arrested for assault. The last time I checked, Manny Pacquiao has never been arrested for anything. The closest Manny ever gets to a police officer is when he is being escorted by one. Usually it’s a police officer on a motorcycle in front of his black Mercedes.
So back to the Emails from Fitty fans. One of them called me a, “fat white boy Pacquiao fan” which in fact is kind of true. It’s no breaking news that I like a juicy hamburger at times, and I definitely am a Manny Pacquiao fan. I didn’t have too much of an issue with that one. The second email threatened my life. The spelling looked as if a 3rd grade student wrote it, but he did spell the profanity correctly. The threat went a little like this, “Yo Cooney, ya fat &#@ you talkin all that noise bout muh boy Fitty Cent. A fatty like you gone get his @*#*$$ whooped talkin dat noise. Yo you could take a bullett in da head talkin noise like dat.”
That one I did have a problem with. Is it really that important? Do people really take the time and threaten someone that they don’t even know? Yes indeed they do.
Floyd Mayweather Jr thinks that Manny Pacquiao is on steroids. Some people think that Floyd is just scared to fight Pacquiao, and the steroid accusations are just a crutch.
Mississippians who used to be Mayweather Fans have fallen away from him. Sure he still has fans in Mississippi, but many of them due to his behavior have turned away from him. The arrests, the vulgar language, the threats, the racial comments, the list goes on.
I spoke to Lakeida Davis, a former Mayweather fan. Lakeida resides in Jackson, MS and is a big boxing fan. Lakeida chimed in on the accusations that Fifty Cent and Floyd Mayweather made about Manny Pacquiao, “Look, Floyd used to be my favorite fighter. I mean I hate to say it, but man I can’t support Floyd’s behavior toward Manny Pacquiao. Now his gangsta mate 50 Cent is talking noise. They both need to just shut up.”
Threats, violence, profanity, and arrests? Or morals, good deeds, winning, faith, and charity giving? I’ll go with the latter. Pacquiao it is.
