Moments ago inside of the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, WBA lightweight champion Miguel Acosta and challenger Brandon Rios weighed in ahead of their clash tomorrow night. Boxing insiders are pointing to this bout as a do-or-die contest for Rios and he should have his hands full with his rangy Venezuelan opponent. Each man made the lightweight limit comfortably, coming in at 134.5 pounds. Rios, as is often this case with him, showed a little bit of theatrics as he flexed his muscles and appeared to egg his elder on, looking for any kind of mental edge with the fight just 24 hours away.

Rios made a splash last year for his victories of Jorge Teron and Anthony Peterson, impressing the masses with his relentless style and debilitating attack. Acosta raised eyebrows with his upset TKO over Urbano Antillon in 2009 and will be looking to replicate that feat tomorrow night.
The fight is one week removed from Nonito Donaire’s thrilling knockout over Fernando Montiel at the nearby Mandalay Bay and comes in advance of several other events making their way to Las Vegas, including Miguel Cotto vs. Ricardo Mayorga, Erik Morales vs. Marcos Maidana and Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley.
It’s definitely a good time to be a fight fan in Las Vegas.
