On Friday night at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino of Las Vegas, a new heavyweight will hit the professional boxing scene. Razvan Cojanu represented his native Romania at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and had approximately 300 bouts during his 12-year, amateur career.
Cojanu said that he has been in the United States for approximately 2 months.
?Jeff Mayweather is the best trainer of my life,? Cojanu said. ?I’m prepared for the fight.?
Cojanu, who turned 24 on Thursday, stands 6′ 7?, and weighs 262 lbs. When asked about his training, he said that he has put in some great sparring sessions with former world champion Samuel Peter, and Kali Meehan of Australia.
Citing Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson as his biggest influences, Cojanu said, ?The USA has very good boxers.?
The young heavyweight predicts a 2nd round knockout to kick off his pro debut against a yet to be determined opponent.
?I don’t know the name of my opponent,? Cojanu said with laughter. ?I don’t know anything about him, but I’m in very good shape, and I am ready.?
Cojanu’s 4 round debut will be part of the undercard of Friday night’s clash between Michael Grant and Tye Fields.
