Casual Talk via LAS VEGAS, Nevada – I sincerely must say Referee Russell Mora deserves a legal spanking by the Nevada Athletic Commission. He should be under a disciplinary action for not
stopping the fight after seeing Fernando Montiel having seizure from the crushing-counter left of the new WBC/WBO Bantam Weight Champion Nonito “Filipino Flash” Donaire, Jr. Worse, a lawsuit should follow from Montiel’s camp.
I would not hesitate to say that his judgment at that moment of letting Montiel continue the fight was one of unbecoming a professional referee licensed by the State of Nevada and elsewhere. He surely lacks discernment.
In fact, the abnormal excessive movements of Montiel’s bilateral legs were so obvious. Any fighters like Montiel must be protected by well-rounded referees who are masters of neurological assessments. And I don’t think just by that instance when such bodily activity, so involuntary as witnessed, that occurred upon Montiel, a right-minded referee would not stop the fight.
He is, therefore, an incompetent and too dangerous a referee.
