The boxing headlines today were flooded with the news of Manny Pacquiao visiting his friend, Senator Harry Reid, on Capitol Hill and later exchanging pleasantries with President Barack Obama near the White House. Pacquiao has a May 7th date with Shane Mosley lined up at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and has been doing the rounds in what is turning out to be a whirlwind of a press tour.
Pacquiao is a 7-1 betting favorite heading into the fight and it’s hard to think of a star who is carrying the sport as much as he is these days. But while Mosley is definitely overshadowed heading into the fight he hasn’t shown any signs of resentment, as he instead seems to be soaking up every minute of the festivities.

While Pacquiao mingled with Reid, Mosley had a hectic day himself in New York. ‘Sugar’ spent his time during various radio interviews as well as paying a visit the New York Knicks in the middle of his trek to Bristol, Connecticut for interviews at ESPN headquarters.
Mosley appeared on the ‘Boomer and Carton’ show, the ‘Ope and Anthony Show’ and later on ‘Hip Hop Nation Ear Candy Morning Show’ with his trainer Naazim Richardson. Richardson has been adamant about his belief in Mosley heading into this fight despite his star talent failing to snatch a victory in two fights in 2010.
After his radio interviews, Shane stopped by Tarrytown, New York as he kicked it with Knicks power forward Amar’e Stoudamire and their point guard Raymond Felton. Outside of being a fine fighter, Mosley has always kept himself in peak physical condition by participating in other sports including basketball and football.
There are whispers that the tour will roll on to San Francisco but now the buzz is turning to this weekend’s bantamweight title fight between Fernando Montiel and Nonito Donaire, set to take place this Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Donaire and Montiel will be participating in an open media workout at the Top Rank Gym to officially kick off fight week, along with participants from the chief undercard attraction, Jesus Sot Karass and Mike Jones.
