Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation minimumweight champion Rodel Mayol, of the Stonewall Boxing Gym, successfully defended his title with a show of power Saturday night as he demolished Indonesian challenger Marty Polii in the seventh of their 12-round fight headlining the “Against All Odds” card at the Casino Filipino in Paranaque City. The dynamite-fisted Mayol sent down Polii thrice in the seventh with crisp body shots, prompting the referee to stop the carnage at the 1:33 mark of the round. The unbeaten Mayol also knocked down Polii twice in the sixth round and once in the first round. It was the 20th win for Mayol and his 16th inside the distance. In the chief supporting bout, ex-Philippine flyweight champ Edgar Rodrigo needed just a single round to dispose of Thai Somyot Vor Surapol. At ringside were newly-installed Games and Amusements Board chair Eric Buhain and commissioners Angel Bautista and Alex Paglumotan.
