The Fight Club, the newest fitness center in Cebu, will play host to the press and public preview of the sparring session of WBO Asia-Pacific bantam champion Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista and Mexican trial-horse Gilberto Bolanos on June 8. Located at the Banilad Town Center, The Fight Club is set to open on July 1 yet but will be inaugurated and blessed on June 8.
The sparring session of Bautista and Bolanos against separate sparmates will be open to the public at 5 p.m.
Owned and managed by the ALA Boxing Gym, The Fight Club will also feature a sparring exhibition of two female trainers to demonstrate the fitness and skills acquired through the ALA boxing training program.
The Fight Club will have for its chief trainers Edito Villamor and Peter Cuizon, who are both awardees as the country’s best trainers in the professional and amateur boxing ranks, respectively.
Other members of the training staff are former bemedalled amateur standouts and ex-Philippine champions.
The club is purely a boxing fitness gym with a training program similar to those of the amateur and professional boxers but of lesser intensity.
The boxer’s workout is a confidence building and practical method of defending oneself as well as a fun, sure-fire way to get into the best shape of life.
The fitness movement has in fact become enamored with the boxers’ workout and the advent of women’s boxing over the last decade has broken down the men’s domain of the sports – changing forever its appeal and horizons.
