Prospect watch: Jason Pagara scores a big one-puch KO!

Meet 19 year old Filipino light welterweight prospect Jason Pagara. Last Saturday, Jan. 26, the big punching youngster improved to 25-1 (14 KOs) when he stopped Indonesia?s Billy Sumba via first round KO.

Check out this video footage of the pure one-punch KO that came via a well placed counter left hook that left his opponent stretched stiff out on the ring mat for several moments.

19 year old Flilipino phenom Jason Pagara first laced up a pair of boxing gloves at just eight years old as he played boxing with neighborhood friends. At age 14, when the young boys his age would rather go for non-productive escapades with a gang of friends, he turned pro in order to take his first step toward achieving his dream?a world championship crown.

Boxing flows in the veins of Jason Pagara. At a very young age, he learned to love the game while watching his father Reynaldo demolish a fighter in the ring. His passion for boxing grew along with his physique as he watched Filipino warriors Manny Pacquiao, Rey Bautista and AJ Banal in the national and international limelight as they conquered foreign warriors, one fighter at a time.

Pagara won his pro boxing debut with a unanimous win over Tata Tadena in Jagna (Bohol), far off from his home in Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City. Under the skillful guidance of manager Mario Geronico, he stormed the local boxing scene with a relentless string of victories. He took the Philippine Boxing Federation lightweight crown from Rey Anton Olarte in 2007 and went to rack up nine fights in a row.

He took his only loss in a rematch against Rey Anton Olarte in December 2007 in a closely contested six round war.

Since that time the Pinoy phenom has racked up 13 straight wins, eight of which were knockouts.

Young Jason Pagara has quickly become a draw for ALA promotions, fighting in co featured bouts at the Cebu City Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu, Philippines four times since late 2009.

His latest victory can be seen above where he impressively stopped Indonesia?s Billy Sumba in less than one round to improve to 25-1 (14 KOs).
