For those that may not have known, recently retired MMA veteran Shonie “Mr. International” Carter had his own run-in with Floyd Mayweather during the taping of Iron Ring, a mixed martial arts reality show that aired on BET nearly 3 years ago. At the time, Carter had some choice words for Mayweather, making it clear that despite Floyd’s talents in boxing, there’s no way he would ever survive in Carter’s world of mixed martial arts. Since that time, Carter’s opinion hasn’t changed, except now, contrary to what Oscar De La Hoya may say, he thinks the undefeated pound-for-pound champion will be hard-pressed to last in his own world should he ever decide to face Filipino sensation Manny Pacquiao. “Pacquiao beats Mayweather easily. He’s way too active for Floyd,” Carter commented as he shared his prediction for the super-fight that we all are hoping will some day become a reality.
“Floyd is scared to lose his undefeated record. I’ve never asked another man to take additional drug testing; I just punch them in the fuckin’ mouth,” he added, giving his opinion on why the fight has yet to happen. Carter, who recently retired from the sport of mixed martial arts after a November loss to Jeremy Knafo, has had over 80 fights in his career and has fought in several organizations, including the UFC, King of the Cage, Bellator, WEC and Pancrase, while holding several titles throughout his career. Although he may be done competing, he’ll never be done sharing his knowledge and wisdom of fighting.
So is Carter right? Is Manny Pacquiao too active for Floyd Mayweather? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
