Rematch looms if Manny loses

MANILA, Philippines – In the tragic event that Manny Pacquiao loses to Shane Mosley in their welterweight war, Top Rank chief Bob Arum said he has an option that would mandate Mosley to agree on the Hall of Fame promoters? terms.

Arum told the Bulletin on Sunday (Saturday in the US) that while there is no rematch clause in the contract that Pacquiao and Mosley signed for their marquee match-up scheduled on May 7, there is a provision that gives Arum the right to promote Mosley?s next fight.

It is a no-brainer that should Mosley scores a mighty upset, Arum will have no choice but to arrange a return meeting between Pacquiao and the seemingly-unsinkable US puncher.

?There is no rematch clause but I have an option (on Mosley),? said Arum. The official fight contract for the Pacquiao-Mosley super showdown to be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas has just been signed and Arum warns some sectors of boxing that Mosley ?is somebody not to be taken lightly.?

?Mosley is a very dangerous fighter. He hasn?t been knocked out,? said Arum, labeling his detractors as those who ?don?t know boxing.?

Mosley hasn?t been performing exceptional as of late, losing to Floyd Mayweather and drawing with Sergio Mora in his last two outings but it doesn?t mean the 39-year-old will have to need to bring a machete in the ring to win.

Alex Ariza, who serves as Pacquiao?s conditioning coach, had earlier said Mosley is going to be easy prey but was later forced to alter his views after giving it much thought.

?When the stakes are high, a fighter like Mosley can put on a superb performance,? said Ariza.
