The WBC has officially ordered an immediate Bernard Hopkins Vs. Jean Pascal rematch. This had to happen because anyone that watched this fight clearly knows who won it. Hopkins took Pascal to school and yet once again some incompetent judges hijacked the fight and awarded it to the wrong person. WBC president Jose Sulliman sent both fighters a text message indicating that upon receipt of the message a 30 day negotiation period starts. If there is no agreement at the end of the 30 days, it would go to purse a purse bid in Mexico City on February 4th.
The letter informed both fighters that the winner of the fight is “obligated” to fight Chad Dawson immediately without any intervening contest. This however creates a nightmare situation for the current champion Jean Pascal who has reportedly already signed a contract to defend his title against Chad Dawson. Pascal appears to be caught in a no win situation because if he adheres to the WBC ruling to rematch Hopkins he will more than likely be sued by the Dawson camp. If he fights Dawson he will be stripped of his title by the WBC.
The fans for the most part could care less and want to see a rematch between Hopkins and Pascal happen. Hopkins clearly deserves the rematch as most people feel that he won the fight. It’s going to be interesting to see what Pascal decides to do.
