Floyd Mayweather’s persecution complex, goes Crabby Appleton on media

I do not mean to come across as blasphemous.

Nor do I wish to be viewed as sacrilegious.

But I’ve never seen Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr. as a Christ like figure.

But, apparently in a continuing course of petulant conduct, the American boxing superstar does perceive himself to be persecuted even while he’s being prosecuted by the Clark County District Attorney’s office.

So, following in the footsteps of so many other ignorant athletes and celebrities who think their fame or notoriety, puts them outside society’s rules of acceptable behavior, Mayweather wants to play pin the tale on the odious “them,” on the media.

Mayweather fails to name names.

Brian Kenny, the pest from ESPN who asks meaningful questions? Steve Kim, the sometimes biting, caustic and acerbic (albeit with a touch of humor) Maxboxing pundit? Your humble correspondent? Others too numerous and too unimportant to mention?

As they said in “Casbalanca,” round up the usual suspects.

One reporter who got under Mayweather’s thin skin last year Maxboxing’s Gabriel Montoya who posted this replay of an interview with “Money” on March 6:

“…Then Floyd answered a question about Latinos by saying ?I love the Mexicans. I love the Latinos? and I thought ?As long as they?re not asking me questions.?

“Now, he didn?t really answer my question at all and so I was stuck with the problem of having to ask it again. I?m not a confrontational type of reporter. I tend to hate reporters who act like a one- man angry mob. But I wanted an answer and on a nice segue cue from Floyd about being the ?Face of Boxing? I jumped right back in with:

“GM: You became the face of boxing when you dominated Oscar De La Hoya__

“MM: Before then I?ve been the face of boxing___

“GM: You became a crossover star when you beat De La Hoya.

“MM: Well the thing is this. Floyd Mayweather is versatile. I?m able to go to something else and dominate. I?m a household name___

“GM: But you weren?t that until after Oscar. My question is this: Why the Pacquiao fight? Why that fight? Why did you wait until then to do the blood testing?

“MM: Well, well, it?s, it?s, because, it?s, it?s out with the old and in with the new. At one particular time, fighters didn?t have to take a urine test at all.

Mayweather reportedly got irritated by the presence of the media pack outside the Las Vegas courtroom on Monday when he was supposed to have pretrial hearing on the allegations that slapped “Baby Mama” Josie Harris around in a wee hours terror visit to the house where she and the children they have together were sleeping peacefully before Enraged Daddy caused a commotion.

(Mayweather is next in court March 10 which makes it a must cover event for boxing types attending the Ricardo Mayorga-Miguel Cotto show two days later at the MGM Grand.)

When journalists tried to get him to say something, anything…Mayweather went all Crabby Appleton on them.

He said he “would rather talk about feeding the homeless or something positive.”

Well, duh, yeah domestic violence charges and allegations you threatened your children with a beatdown is not positive subject matter.

Let’s flash back to what Ms. Harris told police happened on Sept. 9 (from TMZ and police reports):

She said Mayweather awoke her by “pulling me by my hair and throwing me on the ground in my living room and began punching me in my head.”

“She claims Floyd then began “dragging me on the floor and twisting my arm back … in attempt to try and break it.”

“According to the documents, Josie claims Floyd “continued to beat me in front of [the couple’s three children].”

“Josie claims that Floyd threatened the children — saying if they “ran or tried to call the police he would beat them the same way.”

“In the docs, Josie also says Mayweather “yelled and screamed that he was going to kill me and my boyfriend and make sure we are taken care of.”

“Interestingly — Josie claims, in the docs, Mayweather had been at the house roughly two hours before the alleged attack — and was yelling at her about her new boyfriend.

“Josie claims she had to call police … who arrived and escorted Floyd out of the home.

But according to Josie, the boxer didn’t stay away … and Mayweather re-entered the home through her son’s side bedroom door — and that’s when the alleged attack went down.”

So, maybe Mayweather can tell the judge it was “the media” who made him invade Ms. Harris house, who made him attack her, who made him threaten his own kids.

Yeah, that’s the ticket.

I’ve said it repeatedly and I’ll say it again.

Mayweather won’t get jail time on this case and I’m sure Harris exagerrated some of her allegations.

But let me put the blame where it belongs.

I’ve got look at the man in the mirror.

And others in the media must do the same.

We’re the guilty parties here so go ahead and shoot the messengers.
