?After banner year, 2011 will be bigger?

ALA Promotions had a successful year in 2010, bringing top-notched fighters and promoting quality fights in the Philippines.

Because of the Cebu-based promotional company?s achievement last year, ALA Promotions is optimistic of a bigger year this year.

?It was a banner year for us last year, but 2011 will be a bigger year,? ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu in an interview.

Some of ALA Promotions? achievements last year were bringing world-class fighters like former world champions Carlos Tamara and Luis Melendez, signing Japanese former world titleholder Katsunari Takayama under the ALA Promotions banner and keeping Cebu boxing busy with world-class boxing events like the ?Pinoy Pride? series.

Promotion

ALA Promotions is planning to bring Philippine boxing, Cebu in particular, to the next level by promoting world championship bouts.

?We want to make the Philippines the next boxing Mecca of the world. Especially Cebu, we want to make it the Las Vegas of Asia,? said the young promoter.

ALA Promotions is planning to hold World Boxing Organization (WBO) mini-flyweight champion Donnie Nietes? next title defense or unbeaten Milan Melindo?s world title shot here in the Philippines.

Match

Nietes is likely set to trade leathers with interim WBO mini-flyweight titleholder Raul Garcia.

Aside from world title fights in the Philippines, ALA Promotions is also setting up an event outside the Philippines, bringing the action live to Filipinos abroad, in its goal to go global.

?We are planning to bring Pinoy Pride worldwide, bringing Filipino boxing around the world,? he said.

ALA Promotions plans on holding a ?Pinoy Pride? show possibly in the middle of the year, either in Canada or California.
