#1- Manny Pacquiao- The Pac-Man is the ultimate spirit killer. One flush shot landed by the Pac-Man is enough to kill your spirit. May be one of the best southpaw fighters ever because of the many angles that Pacquiao is able to launch his shots from. Many will point to Pacquiao?s losses of the past, but truth is that the Pacquiao of then was more raw than sushi. The Pacquiao of now is a much more complete fighter. Pacquiao will remain here at the top until someone decides to do something about it.
#2- Floyd Mayweather Jr.- Love him or hate him, Floyd has remained undefeated for many reasons. The number one reason for me is the way Floyd is able to make last second adjustments during the fight. His conditioning is also through the roof. One thing is for sure, and that is that Floyd is the best when it comes to switching from offense to defense. I know that placing Floyd here at number 2 kills him, but if Floyd wants that top spot Floyd knows what he must do.
#3- Sergio Martinez- Maravilla is as smooth as mantequilla.[smooth as butter] Sergio like Floyd can also adjust rather quickly. One second he is backing up with his guard way down getting blasted and then the very next second he switches his footing and blasts you with rapid shots.
#4- Wladimir Klitschko- I find it extremely sad that Wlad?s skills may never really be appreciated. It?s not Wlad?s fault that there just aren?t any killers in his division. Wlad is the best in the world at controlling space. Every punch he throws and every step he takes is by design.
#5- Juan Manuel Marquez- Hands down the best combination puncher in the sport. His will can not be broken. Even when knocked down a few times, the way in which he is able to recover is simply amazing.
#6- Nonito Donaire- Donaire?s footwork is a thing of beauty. His hand speed is also amazing to see. Donaire will clip you with a left then right check hook you to sleep with a booming shot.
#7- Andre Ward- Ward behind Manny and Floyd just may be the most disciplined fighter in the sport. Ward can fight you inside or out, it just does not matter to him. A very complete fighter who is only getting better and better.
#8- Lucian Bute- This southpaw can now fight when going backwards, and that my friends is very scary for any fighter that steps into the ring with him.
#9- Timothy Bradley- Very good hand speed, good footwork, can recover fast when hit with a lethal shot, and can also adjust pretty fast. What?s not to like?
#10- Vitali Klitschko- Read above at number four for description. Same thing applies here. The Klitschko brothers are brilliant boxers but I am saddened to say that their true brilliance will not be appreciated until they leave the sport. The jab shoots out hard and fast like a laser. Just the way a jab should be.
Outside looking in: Carl Froch, Amir Khan, Juan Manuel Lopez, and Fernando Montiel.
