Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek contacted 8CountNews this evening to inform us that he will be signing a contract next week to fight current IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladmir Klitschko. Adamek tells 8CN that the fight will take place in Poland sometime in August or September. LISTEN here. Q&A below
8CN – Tomasz, thanks for the call. You have some boxing news that you want to share about boxing Wladimir Klitschko?
TA – Yes, you know I am happy. It will be for the heavyweight championship. I will find out more next week, but I am happy and I am ready to fight.
8CN – Has their been a date set yet?
TA – I don’t know a date yet. His manager is in negotiation right now. Next week we will know more, but we are ready and Klitschko is ready. We should know next week when the fight will happen.
8CN – Have both sides agreed verbally?
TA -Yes, yes, we negotiated for a couple of months now. I told Ziggy I am ready, and now we wait for the contract.
8CN – Will this fight be in Poland?
TA – Yes next to Warsaw, a few hours from there. He and I both know that there are many fans of his in Germany, and many people live in Ukraine which is close to Poland. There would be over 50,000 people there.
8CN – You must be excited about fighting for the world title in Poland.
TA – Well I am ready anywhere. I love boxing in United States, but he is champion so where he wants to fight, I will fight.
8CN – Will you take a fight before the Klitschko fight?
TA – I will make one fight in April. I am not sure who it will be against yet, maybe next week I will know more after I sign the contract with Klitschko.
