RT: OK, so has your promoter Dan Goosen confirmed that he’s in negotiations with you and Manny Pacquiao fighting this September?
PEDEN: He did not really tell me who, but he said he is working on something. I will just leave it up to him. Dan has has been pretty honest to me. RT: When do you think you’ll know who you’re next opponent will be?
PEDEN: Maybe next week or the week after.
RT: The Manny fans jumped on the Freddie Roach comments about the possibility of your fight; they’re downloading all you fights, trying to find out all about you.
PEDEN: There is plenty fights for them to see. Robbie Peden is no mystery.
RT: You are a pretty big guy. How does making 130 comparing to making 126 lbs? PEDEN: Much easier, but it is still hard. I have got to watch (my weight), but I can do it comfortably if look after myself outside of the ring.
RT: Are you disappointed that people in the people in the United States did not get to watch your rematch with Nate Campbell since the Campbell camp claimed that fight was controversial?
PEDEN: I told everyone before that he would have an excuse after I beat his ass and I was right I think Dan will get it shown on FOX SPORTS, soon hopefully. I have the fight on DVD and I will sent it to Dan, Monday. He owns the TV rights to the fight, so I think he will want to sell it to FOX SPORTS
RT: Definitely, especially since Dan has been featured in FOX SPORTS shows, he can promote you well on their shows, especially if your fight with Manny does push through
PEDEN: I hope it does. I think Manny is a hell of a fighter, and I want to fight the best guys out there. RT: What did you think of Morales beating Pacquiao on points? Surprising? As expected?
PEDEN: I have not seen it yet, but I thought it was a even fight.
RT: If you were in the shoes of Juan Manuel Marquez, being offered $700,000 to fight Manny, who was expected to receive $900,000, last Feburary, would you have taken the fight?
PEDEN: I would probably asked for a 50-50 split, but seven hundred thousand is still good money. RT: What do you feel are your advantages over Pacquiao, if you do face off?
PEDEN: I think I am a little stronger than Morales, Barrera, and Marquez. With that being said, Manny is pretty strong himself too.
RT: Your fight with Marquez, how long were you sick prior to the fight. Did you ever consider backing out? Or was it a last minute development?
PEDEN: I got sick after the weigh in. I did not consider backing out at all. Look, I am a fighter and I needed the money. Plus I was going through a court case with my ex-managers. RT: What kind of effects do these legal battles have on a fighter?
PEDEN: Well, you do not want to be thinking that after your fight, you have to go to court. It takes your mind off the important thing, which is being focused on your opponent and preparing properly for what needs to be done. RT: What would you say to those who think you are not a worthy champion, or ready to fight big time fighters like Morales, Barrera, and Pacquiao, being that those same people have never seen you fight?
PEDEN: Just give me the opportunity and I think they will become believers after the fight. I do not disrespect anyone. I try to be an honest person, who just loves fighting. I want to be remembered as a good fighter and a great person. So to have this dream become a reality I need to fight these great fighters like Manny, Morales and Marco. I know you understand that.
RT: I do. In closing, what would you like to tell your fans about the big future of Bomber?
PEDEN: I have fought very hard to get what I have. I have something that other fighters want and I am willing to fight anyone anywhere anytime. I will even entertain the idea of a rematch with Marquez, as well.
RT: Even in the Philippines?
PEDEN: If it pays me well, of course! Like I said to Nate, we can fight in the streets, I do not care! As long as we are both compensated properly, then I do not feel any fight should not happen.
RT: Well, hopefully you can get your big fight with Manny; it will be action packed because I know both of you won’t back down.
PEDEN: Pacquiao is a ballsy fighter!
