All media indiciatons point to an April bout between Mexican boxing icons Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales.
After failing to lure Filipino Manny Pacquiao into a third bout, Marquez seems to have settled on Morales for his 2011 debut and in doing so, has provided the Tijuana legend and opportunity to win world titles in four different weight divisions – a feat accomplished by no Mexican fighter.
Morales returned to boxing during 2010, after having taken a year and a half off following four consecutive defeats to Manny Pacquiao (twice), Zahir Raheem, and David Diaz..
Versions of the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Organization lightweight titles held by Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 16th.
Marquez, 37 years of age, and Morales, 34 years of age, are clearly beyond their physical primes, but when two of the best fighters in the history of boxing and Mexico clash, the results should be memorable.
A fight between the pair is long overdue and both men were top-ranked featherweights during the early 2000?s.
