Meanwhile, Parayno said world featherweight boxing champion Manny Pacquiao has started paying his multi-million-peso tax debt with the BIR.
Parayno said General Santos City Revenue District Officer Eric Furia informed him that Pacquiao, who is a resident of General Santos, partially paid his liabilities and sought additional information from the national office on how much he should pay.
Parayno declined to divulge the tax indebtness of Pacquiao, saying such information is confidential under the Tax Code.
He said, however, that the boxer’s assessment is substantial, considering that he earned hundreds of millions of pesos from his six fights abroad.
Pacquiao also reportedly earned huge sums for endorsing various products such as Smart cellular phone, laundry soaps, socks, and other consumer items.
