IF MANNY Pacquiao shakes off or wins a settlement case with promoter Murad Muhammad, he will likely be back in the ring on September 10 as a prelude to a much-anticipated rematch with Erik Morales in December.
This was revealed yesterday by Pacquiao, who recently filed a lawsuit through his battery of American lawyers against Muhammad in New York.
“Nakausap ko si (manager) Shelly (Finkel) at sinabi niya sa akin na baka sa Sept. 10 ang laban ko,” Pacquiao said.
It has been reported by the US media that Morales? promoter Bob Arum has booked a show for Sept. 10 with Morales headlining the card. Arum had stated that in the event Pacquiao fails to get out of his legal battle with the New Jersey-based Muhammad, he will have no choice but to tap another Mexican, Juan Manuel Marquez, to fill his spot.
Arum is envisioning that Morales will be able to win his September bout against a foe yet to be named and that Marquez would also do the same against a hand-picked opponent paving the way for a megabuck showdown on pay-per-view in December.
Morales had beaten Pacquiao via a unanimous decision last March at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquao?s lawyers, led by New York litigator Judd Burstein, is confident that Muhammad would throw in the towel and opt to settle out of court.
Pacquiao is currently enjoying the fruits of his labor, and is in fact expected to attend a bigtime derby in Mandaue, Cebu, starting today. He is now in General Santos City with wife Jinkee and two sons, Emmanuel Jr. and Michael Stephen.
