Is Bob Arum Just Using Mosley To Force Marquez And Golden Boy Promotions To Lower Their Outrageous Demands?

Tungod, Inabanga, Bohol ? Banking on his remarkable knockout performance against Michael Katsidis, Mexico?s very own Juan Manuel ?Dinamita? Marquez has been pestering Pinoy ring legend Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao to go at it once again for a third faceoff. Marquez, together with Golden Boy Promotions, is staging a propaganda centered on the self-aggrandazing premise that he beat Pacquiao in their two previous meetings. Though it might be true that Pacquiao has had more trouble against Marquez?s patient and precise counterpunching strategy than with any other fighter he has faced inside the squared circle, truth be told that a much smaller and lesser version of today?s Pacquiao made Marquez hit the deck a total four times in both fights.

FACT: PACQUIAO BEAT MARQUEZ NOT JUST ONCE, BUT TWICE!

Fact of the matter is that the first Pacquiao-Marquez bout ended in a draw, with two judges scoring it for opposite fighters and the third one scoring it even. Burt Clements, the judge who scored it 113-113, erroneously scored the first round 10-7 instead of 10-6, when Pacquiao decked Marquez thrice. Clements admitted his mistake, but the decision has already been cast, which practically denied Pacquiao his well-deserved victory. Had the fight gone Pacquiao?s way, there would have been no hubbub. The draw verdict spurred the controversy, which also gave Marquez and his supporters the bravado to make their claim that the Mexican won that bout despite the three knockdowns in the first inning. The second fight, like the first one, was close with back-and-forth action. But this time around, Pacquiao was given his due with a split decision victory. These are the facts! Marquez and his cohorts can stop fooling themselves because at the end of the day, they?re the ones who need to prove something. The burden of proof rests in Marquez and certainly not in Pacquiao!

LET?S FACE IT? WE NEED PACQUIAO-MARQUEZ III!

Though most boxing pundits, yours truly included, consider today?s Pacquiao as ?too much? for Marquez, we still can?t deny the fact that a third encounter has to take place. If not to set the record straight, a third fight might as well make Marquez stop blabbing about his imaginary victories over Pacquiao, which is becoming especially annoying as of late. Without a shadow of doubt, Pacquiao is going to knock Marquez out? another mexicution by the dreaded Mexicutioner in the offing.

DON?T FOOL US, BOB? IF YOU CAN SELL MARGARITO, WHY NOT MARQUEZ?!!!

Marquez is Pacquiao?s easiest opponent available among the long list of hopefuls. Sure thing, both Pacquiao and uncle Bob know it. Top Rank Promotions chief honcho Bob Arum has been floating the idea that Pacquiao-Marquez III would be a hard sell. This is a big fat lie! If a Pacquiao bout versus a disgraced Margarito, who was knocked out cold by Mosley after being caught cheating, was able to generate more than a million pay-per-view buys, why not Marquez, who just came off a sterling performance in a highly publicized bout? This faceoff, contrary to what uncle Bob is trying to hypnotize us about, is an easy sell, even for the casual fans!

MOSLEY IS HIGH RISK LOW REWARD FOR PACQUIAO!

Mosley is a great fighter. People are saying that Pacquiao will beat him easy, but I, sure as hell, would disagree… but, I will just reserve my judgment and my take on that particular topic on another piece, if Mosley goes on to win the Pacquiao lottery. This article is meant to campaign for Pacquiao-Marquez III. By the looks of it, Bob Arum and perhaps Freddie Roach, too don?t really want their cash cow to go against the dangerous Mosley. They both understand that Pacquiao could use a little break by pitting him against the smaller Marquez. I could really be wrong, but it seems like Arum wants Marquez, too. It just so happened that Marquez?s and Golden Boy?s demands just make Arum want the Mexican less. Someday soon, Mosley will serve his purpose. Marquez and GBP will have no other option but to bend? if not, Arum and Roach will have someone they really don?t want on the opposite corner of the ring for Pacquiao. On the other hand, Pacquiao, the warrior that he is, is expected to take that fight regardless of the risks. He knows that he has the skills and capacity to beat anybody they put in front of him. Is Arum just using Mosley or does he really want him for his favorite prizefighter? You be the judge!
