Bernard Hopkins and the Fountain of Youth ? Weekly Dispatch

* One of the joys of watching a Golden Boy Promotions fight is that Bernard Hopkins is usually sitting ringside, sometimes in the company of Oscar De La Hoya. On many occasions during the fight Hopkins will rise and begin to yell into the ring strategies for one of the fighters to use. Whether the fighter can hear, is listening or cares what Hopkins is saying is a moot point. It a reflection of why, at an age when most boxers are long retired, Hopkins is not only still fighting but is also relevant. Hopkins is one of the great minds of contemporary boxing and anyone who thinks Jean Pascal is going to run through him will be sadly mistaken.

*?I?m the legend killer. That?s my new moniker. Like Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins had his era and now he?s got to go. Personally, I think he?s nuts for even thinking he can beat me. But I?m not going to talk him out of (trying).? -Antonio Tarver before fighting Hopkins.

?I am going to whoop him?? ? Winky Wright before fighting Hopkins

?My main thing come fight night is to let my fists do the talking.?-Kelly Pavlik before fighting Hopkins

?Now it?s time to take on the legendary future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins and finally send him into his well-deserved retirement. He?s an old fox, but I?m the young wolf.? ? Jean Pascal before fighting Hopkins.

*Look for Hopkins to do what he does best against Pascal, take away Pascal?s weapons making him look languid and ineffectual.

*Amir Khan is no doubt a great emerging talent, but Marcos Maidana will be no pushover, just ask Victor Ortiz.

*Nonito Donaire is as impressive in candor as he is in talent.

*?My View From The Corner?, a book detailing Angelo Dundee?s life in boxing from the mouth of the famous trainer, is as funny as it is touching.

*Bob Arum recently mapped out his potential list for Manny Pacquiao opponents in 2011: Shane Mosley followed by the winner of an Antonio Margarito ? Miguel Cotto rematch.

*I don?t know about you but that map seems ridiculously out of date.

*If this is the result of major promotion companies in boxing not being able to work together, maybe one governing force in the sport is necessary.

*If Pacquiao can get 700,000 Pay Per View buys fighting Joshua Clottey, there is no reason he will not draw a comparable or greater number fighting Andre Berto.

*Getting well into December here and still no word from Floyd.

*?The silence is deafening from Floyd Mayweather?-Bob Arum talking to boxing reporter Elie Seckbach.

*If it was tough before the second Paul Williams fight, it is going to be near impossible for Lou Dibella to find Sergio Martinez a fight now.

*Is Marvin Hagler still in retirement?

*If no Mayweather, Arum and Dibella should try and work out a catch weight for a Martinez-Pacquiao fight.
