Moments ago in Las Vegas, Nevada, WBA and WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez and interim titlist Michael Katsidis made their grand arrivals inside of the hotel lobby of the MGM Grand heading into their clash this Saturday night. While the Marquez-Katsidis clash figures to be entertaining, there was little to hold onto from either man in terms of verbal warfare at the follow up press conference.
When speaking at the dais, Marquez noted that he had tremendous respect for Katsidis? character, as the Australian was devastated last month by the news that his older brother Stathi had been the victim of an apparent suicide yet still opted to go ahead with the fight. Upon hearing Marquez speak, Katsidis nodded his head in understanding.
Team Katsidis was also respectful on their end, giving credit to Marquez for fulfilling his obligations as a champion by facing his mandatory. No trash talk at all emerged from today?s press conference and Michael?s trainer John Murray applauded the accomplishments of Marquez while pointing out how excited he was to have his charge face off with Marquez.
Marquez faces Katsidis this Saturday night at the MGM Grand as their bout serves as the main event to an HBO triple header. For images of each man making their arrival earlier today please continue on to the slideshow on the left hand side of the page.
