Manny Pacquiao says he could fight on for another couple of years following his latest victory against Antonio Margarito.
The Filipino has become a congressman in his native country this year but the multiple world champion appears keen to remain active in the ring as well.
“I don’t want to go beyond 35,” said Pacquiao, who turns 32 next month.
It was previously believed that he would only continue through 2011, when he is expected to re-open negotiations with Floyd Mayweather, the latter’s court battle in January not withstanding.
There are not many other fights around for Pacquiao, who played down speculation of a third match with Juan Manuel Marquez despite their previous tight encounters.
“I think people are not so interested…because if I were a boxing fan, I would not want to see Pacquiao v Marquez.”
Besides Mayweather there is Shane Mosley – who was last seen dropping a lop-sided points decision to Mayweather – while Sergio Martinez is also in the mix following his devastating knockout of Paul Williams at the weekend.
However, Pacquiao would likely need to stipulate a ‘catchweight’ of 150lbs to fight the WBC middleweight champion, making it difficult to accept for the Argentine.
