Moments ago at the MGM Grand Andre Berto starched Freddy Hernandez with a beautiful right hand mere minutes into the first round. With the win Berto successfully defends his WBC welterweight crown for a 5th time and also keeps his undefeated record in tact, rising to 27-0 with 21 knockouts.
Following the win Berto was asked whom he would prefer to face next. The Haitian-American stated earlier this year that he would love to face, in order, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao in 2011 and he reiterated that those aspirations are still in tact.
?I?ve ate all of my appetizers, I?m ready for the main course,? Berto would tell HBO?s Larry Merchant.
Berto has been criticized in the past for not having faced top flight competition up to this point in his career but he is now in a position to silence his critics in the coming year.
