Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. When you look at this man’s life and see where he started out, and where he is at now, it’s quite incredible. From selling cigarettes to world icon congressman, not too bad huh?
Manny has achieved things unimaginable, things that just boggle the mind. The guy has risen from nothing to international fame and wealth. Another amazing aspect is the fact that he’s been able to stay humble. Many people change when they acquire wealth and fame. Manny for the most part is the same guy now as he was when he first walked into the Wild Card Gym. Sure, he doesn’t get excited like he did when he bought his first pair of boxing trunks, but the guy is basically the same now as he was years ago.
Manny has a beautiful wife (Jinky) and his kids to be thankful for. He has a brilliant boxing team that surrounds him, and he has his health, and lastly a legion of fans that rivals the population of China. Not too bad at all.
Pacquiao just demolished Antonio Margarito. He self admits that the fight was not so easy. Manny was very sore after the fight, not surprisingly as his opponent had almost 20 lbs on him. After the fight he once again went to the bank and deposited millions of dollars into his account. That is certainly something to be thankful for.
If Floyd Mayweather will ever come out of his hiding place and fight, he will deposit about 50 million more dollars. Manny Pacquiao has a lot to be thankful for, and if I know him like I think I know him, he is indeed very thankful.
Mississippians for the most part are Christian folks. Sure there are other faiths in Mississippi, but for the most part the state is populated by Baptist Christians. Thanksgiving is an important Holiday for us here, and it is for Manny Pacquiao as well. I have spoken to several boxing fans in Mississippi, and 90 percent of them love Manny. It’s no surprise, Manny is a tough guy to not like. He’s a humble guy, a friendly guy, and an extremely giving guy.
